Over a cup of Matzo Ball soup at Zaftigs, my friend Ruth sifted through the many upcoming holiday parties: Gesher City, Chabad Hanukah, Vilna Shul, the Matzo Ball and the Revolution Ball on New Years. As she started to plotz over which party to attend, I explained to her that she doesn’t need to choose but rather attend them all! That’s the joy of being single in the city during the holidays; the opportunities for a great night out are endless!
There are so many reasons being single during the holidays is a good thing. As a single person you do not have to think of that perfect present that shows how much you love someone, you don’t have to sit through the uncomfortable dinner with your significant other’s family and you don’t have to go to the work holidays parties and ‘babysit’ your partner while making sure you appear relaxed and sociable. Instead, being single qualifies you to spend more money on someone you really care about, shmooze with other singles, buy yourself some new party outfits to wear to dinners you want to attend and most importantly, the only person you have to worry about is yourself!
As you party hop during the holidays, always remember that a single Jewish girl should always do their networking. You never know who has a cousin, friend, brother or neighbor looking for that perfect single girl.
Single during the holidays means never a dull moment. Look forward to my next singles column about to avoid or not to avoid.
Happy Holidays!
